1. After all these events have taken place, The Lord makes another
promise to Abram. What is the promise?
Answer: That he would have an heir born or his own seed.
2. Does Abram doubt God's ability to deliver on the promise?
Answer: (Reference scripture to back up your answer) And he believed in the
Lord; and he counted it to him for righteousness (Chapter 15, verse 6.)
3. Why did Sarai give Abram permission to lay with her handmaid, Hagar? (What does it tell us about the passing of time as it relates to God's promises)
Answer: She believed she was pass childbearing age. It shows us that the passing of time often acts to weaken our faith in God's ability to do what he promises.
4. What is the name of the son born of Hagar and Abram and what is the significance of his name?
Answer: Ishmael. It means "God hears." It is significant because God shows that he hears the cry of even the servants.
5. In what chapter and verse does God change Abram's name to Abraham and why does he change it?
Answer: Chapter 17, verse 5. Because he would become the father of many nations.
6. In what chapter and verse does God change Sarai's name to Sarah and why does he change it?
Answer: Chapter 17, verse 15. Because she is the mother of nations.
7. Why did the Lord ask Abraham the following question, "Is anything too hard for the Lord?"
Answer: Because Sarah doubted that she could bear a child at her age.
